ETIAS Visa Waiver, what we know so far.

Basic ETIAS information.
So a new visa style system will be needed for trips to Europe within the EU and Schengen area BUT NOT Republic of Ireland.

You will need an ETIAS to travel to
• AUSTRIA
• BELGIUM
• BULGARIA
• CROATIA
• CYPRUS
• CZECH REPUBLIC
• DENMARK
• ESTONIA
• FINLAND
• FRANCE
• GERMANY
• GREECE
• HUNGARY
• ICELAND
• ITALY
• LATVIA
• LIECHTENSTEIN
• LITHUANIA
• LUXEMBOURG
• MALTA
• NETHERLANDS
• NORWAY
• POLAND
• PORTUGAL
• ROMANIA
• SLOVAKIA
• SLOVENIA
• SPAIN
• SWEDEN
• SWITZERLAND
When is the ETIAS start date?
This was due to start in November 2023, (however the start date has changed several times so far.)
Update!!! on its website the European Commission is now showing that it will come into force in 2024.
What is the ETIAS cost?
It will be €7 and last for 3 years.
Family members of EU citizens will not have to pay!
For people 17 and under & 70 and over will need one but won't need to pay.
How will I be able to apply for the ETIAS?
You will be able to apply online.
It will take around 5- 10 minutes and you will have to upload photos answer a few questions.
It wont be needed to travel to the Republic of Ireland.
Will be needed by NON EU Citizens, NON EU passport holders and non EU official residents.
UK nationals and their family members who are beneficiaries of the withdrawal agreement are to be exempt from ETIAS. They may reside on the territory of their host country and travel to another EU countries requiring ETIAS as long as they hold documents of their status.
This means to me perhaps a British person who has been living in Spain for example prior to the withdrawal won’t need an ETIAS to fly to any other eu country such as Italy for a vacation/holiday.
