British Airways new flight attendants uniforms reviewed

British Airways has revealed new designs of uniforms for its airline teams including Jumpsuits for female cabin crew!

The uniforms have all been designed by British Saville Row designer Ozwald Boateng OBE.

Can you believe its current uniform has lasted the Airline over 20 years! The range of garments for pilots to the flight attendants were designed by Julian Macdonald

Sean Doyle, British Airways’ Chairman and CEO, said: “Our uniform is an iconic representation of our brand, something that will carry us into our future, representing the very best of modern Britain and helping us deliver a great British original service for our customers. From the very start this has been about our people. We wanted to create a uniform collection that our people are proud to wear and with the help of over 1,500 colleagues, we are confident that we have delivered this.”

“Designing this uniform was a vast and painstaking undertaking and it went far beyond clothes. It was about creating an energetic shift internally. One of my main objectives was to create something that spoke to, and for, the airline’s colleagues. Something that inspired and empowered them, encouraged them to conduct their roles with pride and most importantly to ensure that they felt seen and heard. Although the airline has a strong heritage, it was imperative to support in creating a fresh narrative of change and transcendence, while remaining timeliness.”

A tunic and hijab option has also been designed for the global carrier for its crew members. This is a remarkable step forward in dressing its diverse workforce.

As an ex cabin crew member I was under the impression that this wasn’t allowed before because of safety procedures. Cabin crew have to be able to quickly don safety breathing equipment in a fire situation onboard aircraft and therefore annually have to demonstrate this as part of safety training requirements. Perhaps they have been able to work around this finally!

So this is a great step forward to incorporate the cultural differences within the UK and is a huge positive for this new uniform collection for British Airways.

The airline has also unveiled a jump suit for female staff, with a lot of feedback suggesting this will be tricky for lady cabin crew members to quickly use the toilet! Check out my cheeky TIK TOK! (Oh and follow me over there)

So what do you think of the new designs?

Personally I definitetly prefer the current airline uniform by Julian Macdonald it looks so British and distinctive of British Airways branding. Can you believe its over 20 years old and still looks current!

The new uniform looks very similar to so many uniforms, like bank cashier uniforms and yes perhaps car servicing garages! However apparently it looks a lot better close up and is made of really great quality materials.

Take a look at Norwegian Airlines current uniform.

Here are some of British Airways previous airline uniforms!

God, how I HATE this new uniform. The female cabin crew no longer look as stunning and stylish and professional as they did in the Julien Mac uniform. This new fashion mess should NEVER have seen the light of the day. I believe a lot of the female crew hate it too, which doesn't surprise me at all. There was no need for BA to change the JM uniform, as it was perfectly fine as it was. Wish the crew would get a petition up, demanding for the previous uniform to be restored, but of course wishful thinking here. If I were a BA employee, I would not be seen DEAD in this rubbishy uniform, and would be handing in…
