Some hotels welcome you with a glass of Champagne. Doors of Cappadocia welcomed me with Turkish tea, astonishing views across Göreme and Maya - an adorable pug who appeared ready to supervise my entire stay.
This small, family-run Cappadocia hotel immediately felt warm and personal, but its real showstopper is the infinity pool overlooking Göreme's extraordinary landscape.
After experiencing the room, breakfast and wonderfully personal service, those first impressions only became stronger. Doors of Cappadocia has charm in abundance and showcases Turkish hospitality at its finest.

Our Junior Suite with a Jacuzzi-style bath was perfect, breakfast offered an impressive Turkish selection, and the staff made us feel like family. I loved it here and would happily return.
It is particularly well suited to couples, first-time visitors and travellers who want a Cappadocia hotel with character, views and a central Göreme location.

Arriving at Doors of Cappadocia
After flying from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen to Kayseri with Pegasus Airlines, I travelled onwards to Göreme and checked into Doors of Cappadocia.
The welcome could not have been warmer. We were offered traditional Turkish tea on arrival, the staff immediately made us feel at home and then Maya appeared.
Maya is the hotel's adorable pug and, frankly, may be one of its strongest selling points. Infinity pool? Wonderful. Panoramic views? Spectacular. Resident pug? Book immediately.
Is Doors of Cappadocia in a Good Location
Doors of Cappadocia feels sufficiently close to the centre of Göreme for restaurants, shops and tours, while its elevated position provides the views people travel to Cappadocia to see.
The approach is slightly uphill and the hotel entrance is reached by stairs. This was manageable for us, but it is important to know that the property may not be suitable for guests who require step-free access or have significant mobility requirements. I would contact the hotel before booking to discuss the exact room location and access arrangements.
The Infinity Pool and Göreme Views
Let's get to the real reason this hotel caught my attention: that infinity pool.
Perched above Göreme, the pool appears to disappear into Cappadocia's rocky landscape. It is the kind of view that makes you put your phone down, pick it up again for 47 photographs and then put it down once more.
The hotel has several shared terraces offering sunrise and sunset views, but the pool terrace is its showstopper. On a clear morning, guests may also be able to watch Cappadocia's balloons floating across the landscape.
Rooms at Doors of Cappadocia
We stayed in a Junior Suite with a Jacuzzi-style bath, and it was perfect for our Cappadocia stay. The room had plenty of character and felt wonderfully private, with a small outdoor terrace leading into the courtyard. It gave us a quiet little place to sit outside and added to the intimate, traditional atmosphere of the hotel.
Plane Tip: Cave rooms can be naturally darker and cooler than conventional hotel rooms. If natural light, ventilation or step-free access matters to you, check the exact room category before booking.
Breakfast at Doors of Cappadocia
Breakfast is included in the room rate and is served from 08:00 until 10:30. That gives you enough time for breakfast after an early hot-air balloon flight, depending on your return time, or for a relaxed start on a less energetic Cappadocia morning.
The selection was far more extensive than I expected from such a small hotel. There was a wonderful mixture of traditional Turkish breakfast items, desserts and plenty of different dishes to try, while fresh omelettes were prepared to order. My Turkish partner talked me through some of the more nostalgic items, including biscuits he remembered eating as a child, which made breakfast feel like a small introduction to Turkish food and family life rather than just another hotel buffet.

Service and Maya
What separates Doors of Cappadocia from a large resort is how personal it feels. This is a small hotel, and every member of the team was warm, attentive and exceptionally friendly. They made us feel less like room numbers and more like part of the family, something even the most luxurious large hotel can struggle to create.
The Turkish tea welcome was a lovely touch, but it was the genuine hospitality and Maya's enthusiastic personal welcome will stay with me. Having an adorable pug waiting to greet guests gives the hotel even more personality, although the people here are every bit as memorable as Maya.
The team can also take care of the practical side of a Cappadocia trip, including arranging hot-air balloon flights, airport transfers and dinner reservations. That local help is extremely useful in a destination where tours start early, transfers need coordinating and popular restaurants can become busy. Although I find booking my tours before arriving with Get your guide to be better value and of course being organised meant I had more time to enjoy my trip. A hot air balloon ride locally was around €140 per person, with get your guide from €80!
What Is There to Do Near the Hotel
Cover Göreme town centre, Göreme Open-Air Museum, balloon viewpoints, Love Valley, Pigeon Valley, Uçhisar Castle, Red and Rose Valleys, ATV tours, horse riding and Turkish-night experiences. I booked a Sunrise classic car tour, it started at 0500 and well worth it! I was picked up from the hotel and we drove through the hot air balloon filled valleys.

Getting to Doors of Cappadocia
From Kayseri Airport
We got a shared airport transfer for around €15 with Goerem transfers, to be honest this is very unlike me, but I just rocked up and found them outside the terminal, normally everything is planned out to the second.
From Nevşehir Airport
Nevşehir can be the closer option, but flight choice, schedules and price may determine which airport is more convenient.
From Istanbul
I flew from London Gatwick to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen with Pegasus Airlines, stayed overnight near SAW and continued to Kayseri the following morning.

Doors of Cappadocia has one of the most impressive views I experienced in Göreme, especially from its pool and shared terraces. The elevated position looks across Göreme's rocky landscape, and the terraces can provide sunrise, sunset and hot-air-balloon views when weather conditions allow. The best view remains subjective, but this hotel is a strong choice if scenery is one of your priorities.

The infinity pool and Göreme views may be what initially attract people, but the welcoming team, excellent Turkish breakfast and deeply personal atmosphere are what made the stay special. Our Junior Suite with its Jacuzzi-style bath and little courtyard terrace was perfect, and the staff could not have done more to help with balloons, transfers and restaurant reservations.
Doors of Cappadocia has genuine charm and Turkish hospitality at its finest. I loved it here, I cannot wait to return and, naturally, Maya deserves her own five-star review.
Accessibility note: the slightly elevated approach and stairs at the entrance mean this would not be my first recommendation for travellers with significant mobility requirements. Contact the hotel directly before booking if you need step-free access.
