Gulf Air Launches New Direct Flights to London Gatwick
By Flight Expert Mr Plane Guy
Exciting news for travellers flying between the Middle East and the UK! Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has just announced a brand-new route connecting Bahrain International Airport (BAH) and London-Gatwick Airport (LGW). This expansion, set to launch on March 30, 2025, marks a significant boost for Gulf Air’s presence in the UK and offers even more travel options for passengers.
More Flights, More Flexibility
Starting at the beginning of the IATA summer season, Gulf Air will operate three weekly flights between Bahrain and Gatwick. These flights will be serviced by the airline’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, known for their comfort and efficiency. With a two-class cabin layout, the aircraft will accommodate 26 business-class passengers and 252 economy travellers.

Here’s what the schedule looks like:
Departing Bahrain (BAH): 01:45 AM on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays
Arriving London-Gatwick (LGW): 06:55 AM local time
Return flight from London-Gatwick: 11:25 AM
Landing back in Bahrain: 20:00 PM the same day
With a flight time of around seven hours heading north and six hours on the way back, this new route provides a seamless journey between the two destinations.
Strengthening Gulf Air’s UK Presence
Gulf Air already operates a double daily service to London-Heathrow (LHR), so adding Gatwick to the mix means more choice and flexibility for passengers. Whether you're travelling for business, leisure, or to visit family and friends, you now have more ways to get to the UK with Gulf Air. Plus, Gatwick’s extensive transport links make it a convenient gateway to London and beyond.
The Growth of Gulf Air
This expansion is a reflection of the growing demand for travel between Bahrain and the UK. According to Gulf Air, the new service will enhance trade and tourism ties between the two nations while offering travelers more options. As one of the oldest airlines in the Gulf region, founded in 1950, Gulf Air has a long history of connecting Bahrain with the world. Today, the airline operates a modern fleet of 42 aircraft, including Boeing 787s and Airbus A320neos, with more on the way!
