Marriott Bonvoy Nectar Hack: Turn Your Sainsbury’s Shop into 5 Star Stays

Big news in the world of hotel points and perks! Marriott Bonvoy has officially launched its loyalty partnership with Nectar. This partnership offers decent value if you shop at places like Sainsbury’s or Argos and fancy a free night or two somewhere swanky.
So What’s the Deal?
You can now link your Nectar account to your Marriott Bonvoy account and transfer points between the two. If you’ve been quietly racking up Nectar points from your weekly shop or that random Argos kettle you bought during lockdown, you can now swap them for Marriott Bonvoy points and vice versa.
The conversion rate is:
1,000 Nectar points = 500 Marriott Bonvoy points
1,000 Marriott Bonvoy points = 500 Nectar points
While this rate isn't the most generous, it is useful if you’ve got a stockpile on either side. It's roughly in line with the British Airways Avios/Nectar deal, which gives you 400 Nectar points for 250 Avios or a 1:1 swap the other way.
Bonus Points for Your Stays
On top of your usual Marriott Bonvoy earnings, you can now earn 500 Nectar points per stay on your next three hotel stays. This is a little bonus just for linking your account.
If you’re completely new to Marriott Bonvoy, they’ll even throw in 500 Nectar points as a welcome gift. Not quite enough to cover your Pret obsession, but hey, it’s a start.
Where Can You Use It?
The partnership covers 10,000 hotels worldwide across more than 30 brands, including names like:
Sheraton
Marriott Hotels
Westin
W Hotels
and many more
So if you’re a loyal Marriott guest (or thinking of becoming one), this adds another way to squeeze value out of your bookings.
But Wait, Hilton Fans, Don’t Scroll Yet
As someone who’s firmly in the Hilton Honors camp, I’ve been loving the Hilton Honors Currensea debit card. Honestly, I think it still wins for most UK travellers.

Final Boarding Call
If you’re already collecting Nectar points, the Marriott partnership is a nice addition, especially if you’re staying in Marriott hotels regularly. But if you're like me and want a more direct way to earn points without changing your spending habits, Hilton's debit card is a game-changer.
Either way, it’s nice to see more travel loyalty options for UK customers. Whether you’re team Nectar, team Avios, or team Hilton Honors, there’s never been a better time to start turning your everyday spending into free hotel nights and room upgrades.
