Welcome aboard this week’s Plane News Weekly, your Sunday fix of UK airline updates, aviation news, loyalty deals, and travel hacks.
American Express has just launched a strong new offer. I personally use the Gold card, and I’ve got a referral link where the first few people, check it out below.........
This week has been a bit of everything. I’ve been in Brussels and back and forth to the Netherlands (where I now live), and the weather has been… let’s just say unpredictable. Sunshine one minute, to snowfall!
I’ve got an exciting collaboration coming up in April with a suitcase brand, which I’ll be sharing properly soon.
And I’m also putting the final touches on my ebook From Zero to Business Class which is nearly ready for takeoff.
On the flight deals front, I’ve been planning April travel, but instead of endlessly searching, I’ve been letting the deals come to me. That’s exactly why I use Jack’s Flight Club.
They’ve currently got a limited offer, you can try it for 3 months for just £5, but it finishes this week, so if you’ve been thinking about it, now’s the time.
Happy landings, Mr Plane Guy
💳 Deal of the Week: 45,000 Avios Boost (Limited Time)
American Express has a limited-time boosted welcome offer on the Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card and through my referral, you can get 45,000 Membership Rewards points (normal offer is 40,000, which itself is amazing!) when you spend £5,000 in the first 6 months. I your wondering what you can do with 40000 points, I flew business class with Qatar with mine.
That’s enough for serious “luxury for less” value. You’ll also get 4 free Priority Pass lounge visits per year, plus bonus points on travel spend.

⚠️ Important: I’m not a financial advisor, this is a credit product, so please do your own research and make sure it’s right for you before applying. Terms apply, 18+, subject to status.
👉 If you’re going to get this card anyway, using my link gets you more points than the standard public offer. Check your eligibility.
Boarding Announcements, New Routes & Airline Updates Plane News Weekly
Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Heathrow… Updated, But Outdated?

Virgin Atlantic has refreshed its Heathrow T3 lounge, adding wellness pods, new workspaces and a modern twist.
But here’s the truth: parts feel genuinely improved… others still stuck in the past.
easyJet Newcastle Base Is Live… But Don’t Get Caught Out

easyJet has launched a huge new base at Newcastle, with 22 routes and 800,000+ seats this summer.
But here’s the catch: the flight is cheap… easyJet hand baggage fees, parking, and airport costs aren’t.
If you’re searching:
easyJet hand luggage rules
easyJet cabin bag size
Newcastle Airport parking deals
airport lounge access UK
Airport lounge news (UK):
Aspire Launches Competition to Fix Lounge Comfort

Aspire has launched a new competition with Central Saint Martins, challenging design students to create the world’s most comfortable airport lounge chair.
The first stage kicked off this week, with students presenting their initial concepts based on real passenger feedback from thousands of lounge users.
The judging panel? Senior Aspire leaders and “industry experts”…
Industry expert, hello? Where was my invite?
The winning design will be selected in May, with plans to roll it out across Aspire lounges globally and if it finally solves the “no comfortable seats” problem, it’s long overdue.
✈ Plane News Travel Perks
Deals, upgrades and travel tools I’ve found for Mr Plane Guy readers this week.
These are the travel tools and discounts I personally recommend for flying smarter and travelling better for less.
💳 Hilton Debit Card UK: Earn Points & Perks Without a Credit Card

Hilton Honors debit card lets you earn points on everyday spending, unlock status perks, and work towards discounted Hilton stays, all without a credit card.
I’ve used it myself (Beijing stopover + upcoming Sardinia stay), and Gold status perks like free breakfast, upgrades and priority check-in genuinely add value.
It’s not for everyone, fees and spend requirements apply, but if you’re searching Hilton Honors debit card UK or ways to earn hotel points faster, it’s one of the more interesting travel debit options right now.
Plane Travel Extra's : Why More Travellers Are Switching to eSIMs in 2026
Staying connected abroad is becoming a bigger focus for travellers, especially with roaming charges still catching people out.
After being hit with a £1,500 bill myself, I now use a travel eSIM so I’m online instantly when I land. It’s one of those small changes that makes a big difference to the airport experience.
