Are Capsule Hotels the Future of Budget Travel? A Review of City Hub Rotterdam
By Mr Plane Guy Travel Blogger, Flight and Travel Expert, general travel dogs body,

During my recent city break in Rotterdam, I chose the budget-friendly City Hub Rotterdam hotel over a hostel due to my snoring and preference for affordable luxury. City Hub offers individual soundproofed capsules, high-end style gym bathrooms, co-working, and socialising spaces, providing a unique hostel-hotel like experience. Here is my review of City Hub Rotterdam.
BTW here is my guide to My top 3 things to do in Rotterdam

How do I get to CityHub Rotterdam from the airport?
Which train to get from Amsterdam Schiphol to Rotterdam Centraal, you have a few options to choose from. The most convenient and fastest choice is to take the Intercity Direct train, which typically departs every 15-30 minutes and takes around 25 minutes to reach Rotterdam Centraal. Alternatively, you can opt for a regular Intercity train, which is slightly slower and takes about 50 minutes.
From Rotterdam Centraal City Hub is around a 20 minute walk through the city.

The Capsule
An indavidual capsule with a double bed, sound proofed and temeperature controlled, it also has a speaker and lighting system controlled from the City Hub app! When you check in for the hotel you choose a bottom or top capsule (I am not inserting any pun here no)
The Bathroom (Yes its shared and gender specific)

The Best Bits at City Hub Rotterdam
In the private capsule, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and you can control the temperature and lighting to your preference! I enjoyed the co-working space, which had a great atmosphere with fellow trendy travelers. Additionally, I appreciated the convenience of using the locker space for storing all my belongings after checking out. This way, I didn't have to carry my backpack around the city all day until my train later in the day; I could simply pick it up on my way to the station.
Bad Bits at City Hub Rotterdam
If you are searching for a hotel that offers a great buffet breakfast, this hotel may not be the best option for you. Additionally, it can be challenging if you have to use the bathroom at night during your sleep.
Things to do in Rotterdam
Summary, so what was it like staying at this capsule hotel City Hub Rotterdam?
The idea of City Hub truly impressed me. Although we enjoy the extravagance of a 5-star stay, it's essential to strike a balance, and this affordable choice for a city getaway in Rotterdam is ideal!
The communal areas are remarkably inventive and practical, with meticulous attention to every aspect. Guests can enjoy a Dutch beer and snacks from the vending machine. The bathrooms are spotlessly clean, resembling those found in upscale fitness centers.
TOP TIP
Don't forget to check out the iconic yellow urban houses of Rotterdam, then head over to the nearby Markthal for amazing street food!
