Quick Answer, Is This One of the Best Gatwick Airport Hotels?
If you’re flying from Gatwick North Terminal, the Hampton by Hilton is easily one of the most convenient and best-value airport hotels you can book.
✅ Direct terminal access (no shuttle needed)
✅ Breakfast from 4am (continental) + full hot breakfast from 6am
✅ Hilton Honors perks (huge upside with status)
✅ Ideal for early departures

Plane Honest verdict: This is one of the best Gatwick airport hotels for North Terminal flyers, especially if you value convenience and a stress-free start.

Location, This Is Why It Ranks Among the Best Gatwick Hotels
Let’s not overcomplicate it…
This hotel is basically inside Gatwick North Terminal.
Walk through a covered tunnel straight into the terminal
You come out right by easyJet check-in
Security is just one level up
No taxis. No buses. No dragging luggage across terminals. This alone puts it ahead of most Gatwick airport hotels.
Plane Tip: If you drive to the airport, try and park your car at the Gatwick North MID stay car park, this is literally attached to the hotel, making your trip super efficient! It's Gatwick's newest car park, you just drive straight in, your booking will be captured via your cars number plate.

Early Flights? This Hotel Solves the Biggest Problem
This is where most airport hotels fall short.
Not this one.
Continental breakfast from 4:00am
Full hot breakfast from 6:00am
Includes Hampton’s famous DIY waffle machine
Gluten-free section available
Vegetarian options cooked fresh (I asked for veggie sausages, 4 cooked in 5 minutes)
This is EXACTLY what you want before a morning flight.
Don’t Spend £30 in Pret and Still Have Nowhere to Sit
If you’re staying at an airport hotel like this before flying from Gatwick, this is the bit most people overlook.
You’ve sorted the hotel. You’ve made the morning easier, but once you’re through security at the airport, it’s a different story.
£7 coffee.
£15 breakfast at Pret or Wetherspoons.
Nowhere to sit.
You end up spending £20–£40 without even thinking about it and you’re still stuck in a busy Gatwick departure area.
Gatwick actually has some genuinely good lounges, and they’re not all business class only.
👉 I’ve reviewed the main Gatwick Airport lounges here, what’s worth it, what’s not, and what to avoid.
If you don’t want to pay every time, that’s where Priority Pass can work well, it gives you access to multiple lounges at a reduced cost, regardless of airline or ticket.
If you travel even a few times a year, this is where it really starts to make sense.

My Experience, Hilton Gold Made This a No-Brainer
Because I have Hilton Gold status (via the Hilton Honors debit card), I got:
Corner room upgrade
2 free drinks 🍻
Free water + snack
Fast WiFi
Several thousand Hilton Honors points
👉 Check out the latest Hilton Honors debit card offer
Plane Honest truth: This is a solid hotel anyway… but with Gold status, it becomes exceptional value.

👉 At a hotel like this, those extras easily add £20–£50+ in value to your stay.
The Room, Quiet, Spacious and Surprisingly Premium
I was upgraded to a corner room with:
Queen bed
Sofa bed set up as a double
Huge amount of space
What stood out:
Immaculately clean
Contemporary design
Mini fridge
Iron & ironing board
Powerful, warm shower
✈️ The big test: aircraft noise
I was genuinely concerned about noise…Didn’t hear a thing.
The windows must be seriously well insulated because I slept perfectly.

The Hilton App, Underrated Game Changer
This is something most reviews completely miss.
You can:
Check in via the app
Check out via the app
Use your phone as a digital room key
You can literally go from arriving at the hotel to your room without touching reception.
That’s a premium experience at a mid-range price point.
Bar, Food & Atmosphere, Proper Holiday Energy
The bar here isn’t just functional… it’s actually part of the experience.
Busy lounge with people heading on holiday
Great atmosphere (you feel the excitement)
Happy hour available
Food served 24/7
This is the kind of place where your trip actually starts the night before.

Accessibility, A Big Plus Most Hotels Don’t Offer
If you need assistance:
Gatwick airport assistance can pick you up directly from hotel reception
That’s a huge win for:
Reduced mobility travellers
Stress-free airport transfers
Parking, One of the Smartest Setups at Gatwick
This is where this hotel quietly becomes even more valuable.
Direct access to Gatwick Mid Stay Parking
ANPR entry (drive in, plate scanned)
Walk through hotel → into terminal
No shuttle buses. No waiting around.

Want to Skip the Gatwick Chaos Completely?
Let’s be honest…
Gatwick isn’t exactly relaxing.
Why fight for a seat at the gate, surrounded by crowds and overpriced food, when you can start your trip properly?
Most lounges cost £40–£60 walk-up
I don’t pay that.
I use Priority Pass and get access from around £24 per visit
Access to 1,800+ lounges
Gatwick options: Clubrooms, Plaza Premium, No1 Lounge
Pre-booking available
👉 Get up to 30% off Priority Pass here
Plane tip: If you travel even a couple of times a year, it usually pays for itself.
How This Compares to Other Gatwick Airport Hotels
Let’s put this into context.
Hampton by Hilton (North Terminal)
✅ Direct access
✅ Best for early flights
Radisson Red (Off site, bus from the airport)
Modern great value hotel
Perfect if you don’t mind a 20-minute bus ride, or driving and parking on-site. Radisson Red a great value Gatwick Airport Hotel Review.

Sofitel Gatwick (South Terminal)
Premium option
Direct South Terminal access
Usually more expensive

Bloc Hotel Gatwick
Inside the South terminal
Very compact rooms
Not ideal for longer stays
It does have some amazing VIP rooms, some with amazing runway views!
Premier Inn Gatwick North
Cheaper
Seriously does not compare to this hotel, my Premier Inn Gatwick North Review
👉 Plane Honest verdict: Hampton is the best balance of price, comfort and convenience.
Gatwick North vs South Terminal Hotels, What You Need to Know
This matters more than people think.
North Terminal (Hampton location)
easyJet hub
Tui flights
Qatar, Emirates, Gulfair
WestJet
South Terminal
British Airways
Wizz Air, Ryanair, Vueling, Air Europa, Turkish Airlines and Sun Express
More premium hotel options
👉 If you’re flying North Terminal, staying here avoids unnecessary hassle.
Is It Worth the Price?
Typical pricing:
£120–£220 per night
Compared to:
Cheaper hotels + taxi/shuttle
👉 This usually wins on convenience + time saved
Plane Honest truth: You’re paying for location and it’s worth it.

A simple way to bring your hotel costs down over time
I actually booked this stay at a reduced rate through the Hilton Honors app, and this is where things get interesting.
I’ve got Hilton Gold status, which usually means better treatment, room upgrades, free drinks and breakfast and I didn’t earn that through loads of hotel stays. I got it through the Hilton Honors debit card.

If you’re flying from Gatwick (or travelling abroad at all), this is one of those rare travel cards that actually makes sense.
Most travel cards make you preload money or move balances around.
👉 This one just links directly to your normal bank account and works like your everyday debit card.
You get:
Real-time exchange rates with low FX fees
Points on everyday spending
Hilton Honors status (which can mean upgrades, breakfast, and perks)
So you’re not just spending abroad…
👉 you’re quietly building points towards free or discounted hotel stays.
⚠️ Just to be clear, this is a debit card, not financial advice, and it won’t be right for everyone. But if you travel even a few times a year, it’s one of the easiest ways to get more value without changing how you spend.

FINAL BOARDING CALL
Boarding Status: Cleared for Take off
Cabin Class Verdict: Premium Economy Comfort
Worth Paying For Again? Yes
Who This Is For:
Early flights, easyJet passengers, Hilton loyalists
Who Should Skip:
South Terminal flyers
The One Thing That Matters:
You wake up… and you’re already at the airport. No stress, no rush, no early-morning chaos.
