Get 6,000 Virgin Points With Virgin Red. That's Enough Points for a New York Flight?
Referral disclosure: This post contains my personal Virgin Red referral link. If you join through it and meet the offer conditions, you can receive 6,000 Virgin Points and I may receive 6,000 too, subject to referral limits.
New York from 6,000 points. Premium Economy from 10,500. Or perhaps you’d prefer ice skating and a little shopping? This Virgin Red joining offer deserves your attention.
I flew Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy for 10,500 Virgin Points, plus taxes, fees and carrier-imposed charges.
Now Virgin Red is offering eligible new members 6,000 bonus Virgin Points when they join through a referral and complete a qualifying earning transaction.
That is more than halfway towards the points I used for Premium. It also matches the advertised starting points price for a one-way Economy Saver reward flight from London Heathrow to New York, with the cash charges still payable.
Yes, you need to find availability. Yes, there are conditions. But this is a staggering head start for someone who hasn’t joined Virgin Red.

Quick Answer Express
What is the offer? Eligible new Virgin Red members can receive 6,000 bonus Virgin Points after joining through a referral and completing a qualifying earning transaction.
When does it end? The boosted offer applies to referrals made 3–30 November 2026.
Who can join? New Virgin Red members who meet the offer’s age and residency requirements. It is a UK-only offer for adults, subject to the full terms.
Do I need a credit card? No. You can qualify through an eligible earning activity, such as a qualifying shopping purchase through Virgin Red.
Do I receive the points immediately? No. Your qualifying transaction’s points must first be credited. The referral reward then arrives as a promo code to redeem.
What is Virgin Red?
Virgin Red is Virgin’s free rewards club, where you can earn Virgin Points through participating shopping partners and other eligible activities, then spend them on rewards.
It is separate from Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, although both use Virgin Points. You can link the accounts to bring your balance together.
You don’t need to be a frequent flyer to find a use for the points. Flights are what catch my attention, obviously, but the rewards also include experiences and everyday treats.

How to get the 6,000 bonus Virgin Points
Start with the referral link. Follow the instructions to register for the offer and join Virgin Red for the first time.
Choose a qualifying earning activity. Browse the Earn section of Virgin Red and read the individual offer conditions.
Complete the transaction through the required route. For shopping, start in Virgin Red and click through to the retailer before purchasing.
Wait for the earned points to be credited. They must reach your account within 18 months of joining.
Redeem your referral reward promo code. The terms say it should be delivered within seven days after the qualifying transaction’s points are credited.
You could use a purchase you were already planning to make. There’s no need to invent a shopping emergency because I’ve mentioned New York.
What doesn’t qualify?
The referral terms exclude:
Buying Virgin Points.
Converting points from another loyalty programme.
Other bonus awards, including referral bonuses.
Prize draws, competitions and games.
So moving American Express Membership Rewards points across won’t trigger this joining bonus.
The important part is completing an eligible Earn transaction, with the resulting points credited within the deadline. Read the full referral terms.
Can 6,000 Virgin Points get you to New York?
Virgin Atlantic advertises one-way Economy Saver reward seats from London Heathrow to New York from 6,000 Virgin Points. Premium starts from 10,500 points, subject to availability. Virgin Atlantic
Cabin | Advertised one-way starting points price | Cash payment |
Economy | 6,000 Virgin Points | Taxes, fees and carrier-imposed charges apply |
Premium | 10,500 Virgin Points | Taxes, fees and carrier-imposed charges apply |
Those are starting prices. Reward pricing changes with demand, and the lowest Saver rates won’t appear on every flight.
Look for the red Saver label when searching. Flexibility with dates can make a considerable difference.
And please check the cash element before getting carried away. “From 6,000 points” tells you the starting points requirement. You still need to budget for the charges, your return journey and the rest of your trip.
But earning enough bonus points to cover that starting Economy points requirement from one qualifying referral sign-up? That is why I’m paying attention.
I flew Premium Economy for 10,500 points
This is where it gets particularly interesting for me.
I’ve used 10,500 Virgin Points for Premium Economy, with the cash charges payable separately. So when I see a 6,000-point joining bonus, I immediately think about how little further someone would need to go.
Another 4,500 points would take that balance to 10,500.
You would still need an available seat at that price. But it makes earning points through spending you already do feel much more worthwhile when you have a particular reward in mind.
My preference would be to put the bonus towards a flight. Yours might be completely different.

Don’t want a flight? Look at these Virgin Red rewards
Perhaps you’d rather have a festive day out or something lovely from Rituals.
These are the examples to look for in Virgin Red’s Spend section, checking the current points price and availability before redeeming:
Reward | Points |
Somerset House ice skating | From 2,000 Virgin Points |
£30 Rituals gift card | 6,000 Virgin Points |
A £30 gift card would be a straightforward use of the joining bonus. Or you could put some points towards skating and keep the remainder for another reward.
You don’t have to spend your points on the reward somebody else considers the cleverest. Pick something you actually want.
Already have Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
Having a Flying Club account is different from already being a Virgin Red member.
The referral terms require you to join Virgin Red for the first time, so check whether you already have a Red account before registering. An existing Virgin Red account won’t qualify as a new membership.
If you’re unsure, check with Virgin Red support before signing up.
Already a Virgin Red member? Refer your friends
Existing members can share their own referral link with eligible friends.
Under this promotion, both sides can receive 6,000 points when the new member meets the conditions. Referrers can earn a maximum of ten referrer rewards in any 12-month period.
If you have your full allowance available, ten successful referrals at the boosted rate could earn 60,000 Virgin Points.
Check the limits carefully. The terms also say rewards may not be given where referral limits are exceeded.

Final Boarding Call
If you haven’t joined Virgin Red, this is an unusually generous opportunity to get started.
I’d have my eye on a flight. You might prefer skating at Somerset House or a Rituals treat. Either way, 6,000 bonus points from a qualifying sign-up is worth a look.
Join through the referral route during the promotional period, choose an eligible earning activity and keep an eye out for the reward code.
Offer subject to eligibility, qualifying activity, referral limits and availability. Promotional referrals run from 3–30 November 2026. Qualifying earning points must be credited within 18 months of joining. Virgin Red may vary or withdraw the offer. Full terms and conditions.
