Dublin Airport can be absolute chaos.
Crowded gate areas, nowhere to sit, expensive food, endless construction works, passengers charging phones on the floor and that strange feeling that the airport has somehow been under renovation since about 2021.
Sound familiar?
That’s exactly why airport lounges can completely change your pre-flight experience.
Even a small quiet corner with a drink, runway views and somewhere comfortable to charge your phone suddenly feels luxurious when the terminal outside feels stressful. And if you fly even a few times a year, getting lounge access through Priority Pass can genuinely make travel feel calmer, easier and far less draining.
Perfect if you travel 2–3+ times per year and want airport lounge access worldwide.
The Liffey Lounge Dublin Airport Review
If you’ve searched for a Dublin Airport lounge, chances are you’ve already seen some pretty poor reviews of the Liffey Lounge. Some passengers absolutely slate it online.
Others say it’s “fine.” So naturally, I had to see for myself.
And honestly?
It was actually better than I expected.
The bad reviews aren’t completely wrong… but they also don’t tell the full story.
This is not some huge luxury lounge in Dubai, Doha or Heathrow. It’s not the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse. There’s no cocktail bar, no spa and no à la carte dining.
But for escaping the madness of Dublin Airport for an hour before a flight?
It absolutely has value.
Where Is The Liffey Lounge Dublin Airport?
The Liffey Lounge is located airside in Terminal 1 near the 400 Gates.
Access is via the escalator or lift along the airline lounge corridor.
One VERY important thing to know: the lounge is not available after US Preclearance.
Also worth knowing:
maximum stay is 3 hours
access can be restricted when busy
alcoholic drinks are limited to two per person
and the lounge is VERY small
And when I say small…
I mean genuinely tiny.
It honestly feels more like the size of a gate area than a traditional airport lounge.
That sounds negative, but weirdly… it kind of works.
Dublin Airport Lounge Access: Is It Worth Paying For?
Here’s the thing.
Dublin Airport doesn’t actually have many lounge options compared to other major international airports.
And paying separately for airport lounge access can quickly become expensive.
That’s why Priority Pass makes so much sense if you:
regularly fly from UK or European airports
travel with Ryanair or easyJet
hate crowded terminals
or just want your holiday to start BEFORE boarding

What Is The Difference Between Dublin Airport lounges The Martello Lounge and The Liffey Lounge?
This is one of the biggest questions people search for when flying through Dublin Airport.
The Liffey Lounge
The Liffey Lounge is definitely the more basic, entry-level option:
smaller space
self-service drinks
simpler buffet food
limited alcohol
quieter corporate atmosphere
It feels more functional than luxurious.
The Martello Lounge
Meanwhile the Martello Lounge feels much more premium overall:
bar staff and barista coffee
wider alcohol choices
more hot food
more polished atmosphere
slightly more premium feel
Personally? If you have the choice, I still think the Martello Lounge is the better lounge overall.
BUT…
If you simply want:
somewhere calm
a free drink
runway views
charging sockets
and an escape from terminal chaos
…the Liffey Lounge still does the job surprisingly well.
My Honest Liffey Lounge Dublin Airport Review
Walking in, my first thought was:
“OK… this is tiny.” But after a few minutes, it actually started growing on me.
The décor is modern and surprisingly stylish, with soft piano music playing in the background and genuinely excellent airfield views across Dublin Airport.
The atmosphere felt calm. Corporate. Quiet.
Almost oddly relaxing considering the chaos happening outside in the terminal.
The staff were very friendly and professional throughout my visit, and the lounge itself was kept very clean.
I visited around 3pm on a Monday afternoon and it was already getting fairly busy.
And honestly, that’s the lounge’s biggest weakness: space.
Because the lounge is SO small, I can absolutely understand why reviews become negative during peak hours. When full, I imagine it could feel cramped very quickly.
Food and Drinks at The Liffey Lounge
Let’s manage expectations properly.
This is not a luxury dining lounge.
Food is fairly basic:
packaged snacks
pastries
soup
cold buffet items
small hors d’oeuvres
self-service drinks
But honestly? It was still better than I expected after reading some reviews online.
The tomato soup was genuinely lovely with some Irish soda bread, even if the bread did come from a packet.
There were also plenty of individually packaged items, which actually makes things easier for allergies and food labels. And yes… the chocolate looked so good I had to try it.
Purely for research purposes obviously.
One thing worth knowing:
alcoholic drinks are limited to TWO per person
there’s no proper cocktail bar
and drinks are mostly self-service
Also, apologies to my Irish viewers…
…but the 0% Guinness was actually really nice.
The Biggest Problem Isn’t The Lounge… It’s Dublin Airport
Honestly, the lounge itself isn’t the biggest issue here.
It’s Dublin Airport. Every time I visit, parts of the airport still feel like a building site. I remember visiting back in 2021 and somehow it still feels unfinished years later.
The gate areas can feel noisy, crowded and stressful.
I also couldn’t seem to get the airport WiFi working properly which honestly summed the experience up perfectly.
So suddenly:
a quiet corner
a free Guinness
runway views
a charging socket
air conditioning
and somewhere peaceful to sit
…starts feeling FAR more valuable.
And that’s exactly why airport lounges work.
Not because they’re always ultra luxury.
But because they remove stress from travel.
Is Priority Pass Worth It For Dublin Airport?
Honestly?
Yes.
Particularly if you travel multiple times per year. I use Priority Pass constantly now, especially at airports where gate seating is chaotic.
Dublin Airport lounge prices can add up quickly, and Priority Pass means you can:
access lounges worldwide
avoid overcrowded terminals
save money on airport food and drinks
and make low-cost airline travel feel significantly more comfortable
If you only fly once per year? Probably not worth it. But if you travel 3+ times annually?
It starts paying for itself surprisingly quickly.

Is The Liffey Lounge Worth It?

The Liffey Lounge is MUCH better than the online reviews suggest… but don’t expect luxury.

What I Didn’t Love
VERY small
limited alcohol
fairly basic food
can become busy quickly
no showers
airport WiFi issues
For a quick hour before a flight with Priority Pass?
Honestly, I think it’s decent value.
Just don’t walk in expecting some five-star flagship airport lounge experience.
