Located within Dublin International Airport, the Martello Lounge is one of the most exclusive and luxurious lounges in Ireland. Whether you're seeking a relaxing spot before your flight or indulging in a bit of Irish hospitality, this lounge promises a premium experience. But what has it got to offer? Let’s find out!
Location and Access
The Martello Lounge is located in Terminal 1 of Dublin Airport, close to the main departure gates. This makes it an ideal stop for both short-haul and long-haul travellers looking to unwind before their flights.
The Martello Lounge is located within Dublin Airport on the corridor connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, making it accessible to passengers departing from both terminals.
Directions:
From Terminal 1: After clearing security, take a short walk to the left towards the 400 gates. The lounge is approximately a five-minute walk from security.
From Terminal 2: Once through security, proceed through the shopping area and locate the lift or stairs behind the Irish Memories shop. Ascend to Level 1, and after a brief walk down the corridor to the left, you'll find the Martello Lounge
The lounge operates daily from 04:00 to 21:30.
Children's Policy:
While the Martello Lounge does not feature a dedicated children's area, it offers a variety of seating options suitable for groups and families.
First Impressions & Ambiance
Walking into the Martello Lounge feels like stepping into a high-end Dublin city hotel rather than a busy airport. The reception was warm and inviting, with professional staff ensuring a seamless check-in process.
The decor embraces a modern Irish charm, featuring soft green furnishings, authentic wood textures, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the airport. The atmosphere is serene and relaxed, enhanced by a light soundtrack featuring the likes of U2, Westlife, and Enya, so Irish, I nearly did a wee jig!
Seating options cater to all needs, whether you're looking for a comfy armchair for a quick nap or a sleek table to catch up on work.

You can purchase entry at the door, subject to availability.
Business class passengers on select airlines may receive complimentary access.
Lounge Access at Dublin Airport

Unlike some airport lounges that offer a basic buffet, the Martello Lounge goes above and beyond with a carefully curated menu of Irish and international delights. With such a variety of hot and cold food, not just standard buffet, all premium products clearly labelled, especially uselful for those that have allergies or dietry requirements.

Full Irish Breakfast served throughout the day – yes, even at 2PM!
A selection of freshly made sandwiches, pastries, and salads.
Dietary restrictions, with gluten-free and vegetarian choices clearly labelled.
Drinks & Bar Experience:
The bar is one of the highlights of the lounge, featuring a fantastic selection of Irish whiskeys, premium beers, and expertly crafted cocktails. Of course, I had to sample a half-pint of Guinness – after all, it’s good for iron!
Soft drinks, juices, and an impressive coffee station with barista-style beverages are also available. The cherry coke on the cake though, was the soda machine! Love these!

Shower facilities with fresh towels, perfect for long-haul travellers, they were immaculate, with fresh fluffy white towels.
The restrooms and shower facilities were spotless, a stark contrast to some other airport lounges I’ve visited. The attention to cleanliness and detail truly sets Martello Lounge apart.
Ambiance: Swanky Yet Comfortable
The lounge was peaceful yet lively, with a subtle sound of conversation and the occasional clink of glasses with panpiped "wind beneath my wings" pumping out. While it wasn’t overcrowded mid afternoon during my visit, it did get busier closer to major departures, especially flights to Dubai and Doha.
This is a far cry from the chaotic airport bars packed with pint-guzzling holidaymakers. Instead, the Martello Lounge offers a refined yet relaxed setting where you can enjoy a drink in peace before takeoff.

The Martello Lounge at Dublin International Airport is a truly Irish hidden gem. With its stunning runway views, comfortable seating, and premium food and drink selection, it offers an outstanding alternative to the hustle and bustle of the main terminal. I'm off to Dublin again soon just to visit this lounge!
