Welcome aboard this week’s Plane News Weekly, your Sunday fix of UK airline updates, aviation news, loyalty deals, and travel hacks from the skies. This week I've been planning ahead for 2026 booking some flights and taking advantage of some amazing travel deals, I took out an easyJet Plus card as i know it will be well used! I will put details of this amazing deal below, what do you think of all these airline gimmicks and subscriptions? Ryanair have recently cancelled their loyalty scheme Ryanair Prime after less than a year!

Also this week I had an interview with The Telegraph about using Wizz Air's 'all you can fly pass' which should be coming out soon! Also last week I flew from Manchester Airports terminal 2 so check out my Review: 1903 Lounge Manchester Airport, Is This Manchester’s Best Lounge? My Full Honest Review.

Plane News Weekly: UK Airline & Aviation Updates – 12 October 2025

easyJet: The Smartest Way to Fly easyJet in 2026 (For £124)

ree

Right now, American Express Gold cardholders can get £125 back on an annual easyJet Plus membership, bringing the real-world cost down from £249 to just £124.

✨ That means:

  • Free seat selection (including front & exit rows)

  • A free large cabin bag on every flight

  • Speedy Boarding

  • Fast Track security at 45+ airports

  • Same-day earlier return changes

  • 10% off onboard food & drinks

This is the smartest way to fly easyJet in 2026, but it’s not hanging around forever. The offer expires on 31 December 2025.

No Amex yet? Stick with me, there’s a standout Amex Gold welcome bonus further down.

I can't believe this deal, BTW I don't get any commission for this, just some Amex points! Just to put this deal into context I flew this year from Dublin to Doha with Qatar in Business Class Q Suite for 40000 Points!

Important: This isn’t financial advice. Credit cards are subject to status, terms and conditions, and affordability checks. Please consider your own financial situation before applying.

Amex Gold: HUGE Limited-Time Bonus (Ends 13 Jan 2026)

American Express has quietly dropped one of the biggest referral bonuses I’ve ever seen on the Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card:

If you use my referral link:

  • You’ll earn: 45,000 Membership Rewards Points (usually 22,000!) when they get approved and spend £5,000 in 6 months.

That’s enough for:

A return to Europe,

A one-way long-haul in Premium,

Or a big chunk towards a Business Class Avios upgrade.

Offer ends 13 January 2026. Very limited and genuinely one of the best Amex Gold boosts in years.

Virgin Atlantic Launches 70% Bonus on Virgin Points, Last Call 31 December

ree

Virgin Atlantic has brought back one of its biggest Flying Club promotions of the year, offering up to a 70% bonus when you buy Virgin Points, available until 31 December 2025.

The headline tier allows members to buy 125,000–300,000 points with a full 70% bonus, temporarily lifting the usual annual purchase cap to 300,000 points. At the top “sweet spot”, this means 212,500 Virgin Points for £1,875, before any credit card bonuses.

With Virgin reward flights, Premium upgrades and Upper Class redemptions for 2026 all firmly in view, this is one of the strongest buying windows of the year for Flying Club members, but only if you already plan to redeem.
