I couldn’t get a seat in the bar. Dinner involved a two-hour wait. My room was small enough that packing required a little choreography, and noise outside the door disturbed me in the early hours.
And yet, rather annoyingly for the direction this review appeared to be taking, I loved the feel of TRIBE Manchester Airport.
This is an airport hotel with actual personality. Somewhere you can arrive the night before your flight and feel that the holiday has already started.
It is modern, lively and conveniently positioned for the terminals. Breakfast was genuinely good, the coffee deserved a second cup, and there was even pizza.
Pizza at breakfast? Finally, somebody understands airport time.
But a hotel can look good and still get important things wrong. Here is my Plane Honest TRIBE Manchester Airport review, including the compact room, busy restaurant, breakfast and how to reach your terminal.

Quick Answer Express: Is TRIBE Manchester Airport Worth Staying At?
My verdict: A stylish, well-positioned airport hotel with excellent holiday energy and a breakfast I enjoyed. However, my room felt cramped, the public spaces were extremely busy and corridor noise affected my stay.
What matters | My experience |
Overall atmosphere | Modern, lively and somewhere I wanted to spend time |
Room space | Small, with limited room for luggage |
Noise | Disturbance outside my room in the early hours |
Dinner | At 6:30pm, I was offered the next table at 8:30pm. Managed to get a seat and eat at the bar instead. |
Breakfast | Good-quality food, great coffee and pizza |
Gym | Looked impressive; personally untested |
Location | Convenient for the airport’s pedestrian connections |
Best for: Travellers who want a stylish start to a holiday and are comfortable with a compact room.
Think carefully if: You need plenty of luggage space or place a particularly high priority on a quiet stay.

Includes taxes and mandatory fees upfront, no nasty surprises at checkout.
Where Is TRIBE Manchester Airport?
TRIBE is a separate hotel building at 6 Chicago Avenue, Manchester Airport, M90 3AH. It is outside the terminals, rather than inside one.
For me, the location was one of its biggest strengths. The airport walkway connection was roughly 100 metres away, making the hotel feel central to the airport rather than somewhere requiring a lengthy transfer.
That estimate refers to reaching the walkway, not walking all the way to every terminal.

Which Terminal Is TRIBE Manchester Airport Near?
Terminal 2 is the closest terminal according to the hotel’s published walking guidance. TRIBE gives approximate walks of:
Five minutes to Terminal 2.
Eight minutes towards the Terminal 1/3 area using the Skylink.
Four minutes to the airport railway station.
These are the hotel’s estimates. Allow longer for luggage, mobility needs and finding the correct check-in area or sidetracked by Gregg's.
First Impressions: This Hotel Has Holiday Energy ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Some airport hotels make you feel you are waiting for an appointment. TRIBE made me feel I was going somewhere.
The design is modern, the atmosphere is sociable and the public spaces have a sense of occasion. It feels like somewhere you might choose for a drink, rather than somewhere you endure because your flight leaves before breakfast.
That is what I liked most. The stay became part of the trip. Unfortunately, on my visit, rather a lot of other people were becoming part of the trip at exactly the same time.
The hotel was extremely busy. There were delayed airline passengers staying, and the pressure on the public spaces was noticeable.
A lively hotel is one thing. A lively hotel where you cannot find anywhere to sit is a slightly different proposition.
My Room: Stylish, but Where Does the Suitcase Go?⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Let’s get the obvious point out of the way: my room was small. Not “charmingly compact” in the language of a hotel brochure. Small and pokey when you are trying to organise luggage before a flight.
There was little obvious space to keep a suitcase out of the way unless it went under the bed.
That may work well if you pack neatly, close your case and slide it away. If you need to open everything, locate tomorrow’s outfit and work out which bag contains your charger, it becomes more of an exercise.
You couldn’t swing a cat. For clarity, no cats participated in this review.
Is the Room Big Enough for an Airport Stay?
For a short overnight stop, I could work around it, but I would think carefully about the room category if travelling as a couple with large cases or expecting to spread out for more than one night.
The issue is usable space. An airport room needs somewhere for the things people take to an airport: bags, coats and the contents of the suitcase they suddenly need to rearrange. There was no complimentary bottled water in my room either. A small detail, but at £155.66 for the night, a bottle of water would have been a welcome touch before an early flight.
Plane Honest: The room looked the part, but I wanted a little more breathing room.
Noise at TRIBE Manchester Airport: My Experience
The disturbance during my stay came from outside my room. In the early hours, the noise was enough for me to look into the corridor, where I saw housekeeping staff working.
Hoovering at 6:30am. Before my flight, I apparently had a vacuum-cleaner wake-up call.
For an airport hotel, that matters. Plenty of guests are there specifically to get some sleep before an early departure. I enjoyed TRIBE’s atmosphere, but a lively downstairs and a quiet bedroom should be able to coexist.

TRIBE Manchester Airport Restaurant: Book Before You Arrive
I wanted to try dinner at the hotel. At 6:30pm, I asked about getting a table and was told the next availability was 8:30pm.
A two-hour wait is a considerable gap when you have arrived hungry and are trying to get an early night before a flight.
I managed to get a seat at the bar instead and ordered a Caesar salad. It was okay, but I’d wanted to try the restaurant properly. My advice? Book your dinner table ahead, having a room doesn’t guarantee somewhere to eat at the time you want.
The delayed passengers help explain how full the hotel felt, but the practical result was the same: I couldn’t have the evening meal I had planned at the time I wanted.
Breakfast at TRIBE Manchester Airport: Now We’re Talking ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Breakfast was one of the strongest parts of my stay.
I really enjoyed the quality of the food, the coffee was great, and the selection felt like something worth making time for.
Then there was the pizza.
I appreciate that some people approach breakfast with a carefully balanced bowl of fruit. I was at an airport hotel. The concept of appropriate mealtimes had already left the building.
More seriously, this was a breakfast I enjoyed eating, rather than something I picked at because it happened to be included.
Should You Book Breakfast?
If your departure time allows you to enjoy it, I would consider a breakfast-inclusive rate.
Compare the total price with room-only and check which service will be available before you leave.
The hotel currently advertises an early continental service from 3:30am, with the hot buffet starting at 5:30am and running until 10am. Confirm those times for your dates. You can add breakfast onto your room from £15 per person.
The Gym: Looked Great, Personally Untested
TRIBE’s gym looked impressive.
Did I use it? No. Don’t judge me. I was conducting important breakfast research.
The hotel lists a 24-hour fitness centre with Technogym equipment, including weights and cardio machines. It is a useful facility if you want a workout before travelling, but I can only comment on how it looked rather than how it performed.

Is There a Shuttle Bus From TRIBE to Manchester Airport?
Yes. The hotel currently advertises a paid shuttle, alongside its walking routes.
Its published service runs:
Detail | Published information |
Morning service | 3am–11am |
Afternoon/evening service | 3pm–9pm |
Frequency | Approximately every 20 minutes |
Fare | £4 per person, paid on board |
The hotel labels this a limited-time service, so confirm availability, stops and prices before relying on it. It is not advertised as a continuous 24-hour shuttle.
Walking may be straightforward for some guests. The shuttle may suit others better, particularly with luggage or reduced mobility.

What I Paid: £155.66 Including Breakfast
I paid £155.66 for one night on a Saturday night, including breakfast, taxes and fees. That was a member price, with a £14.41 saving already applied as I booked it through Hotels.com.

Plane Saver Tip: Save Money on Your Airport Hotel
Even if you're not collecting hotel loyalty points, there's another option worth considering.
I've increasingly booked airport hotels through Hotels.com because of its rewards programme. If you're regularly booking airport hotels before early flights, the rewards soon begin to add up.
Loyalty & Points
Stay 10 nights → get £100 Hotels.com Cash
Use it on future bookings
A simple way to bring your hotel costs down over time
My version of points maxing: book through Hotels.com to work towards £100 in Hotels.com Cash after 10 qualifying nights, then pay with my American Express Gold to earn Membership Rewards points too. To count towards the Hotels.com reward, each booking must have an average nightly value of at least £75, subject to the programme’s terms.
TRIBE Manchester Airport Parking: Compare the Package
If you are driving, compare a hotel-and-parking package with booking the room and airport parking separately.
TRIBE advertises Park & Stay packages for different trip lengths. Check where the vehicle stays, the included dates and what happens if your flight changes before booking.
I would compare:
The full room-and-parking price.
Whether breakfast is included.
The parking location and terminal journey.
Cancellation conditions.
Charges for extra parking time.
A convenient package can be worth paying for. The important part is comparing the total rather than assuming a bundle is automatically cheaper.

TRIBE Manchester Airport Review: Frequently Asked Questions
Can you walk from TRIBE hotel to Manchester Airport?
Yes. The hotel has walking connections to the airport, with Terminal 2 approximately five minutes away according to TRIBE’s guidance. Allow extra time for luggage and navigating to your departure area.
Which terminal is TRIBE hotel Manchester Airport?
TRIBE is outside the terminals. It is closest to Terminal 2 and connected with the wider airport pedestrian network.
Is there a shuttle bus from TRIBE hotel to Manchester Airport?
Yes. A paid shuttle is currently advertised during specified morning and afternoon/evening hours. Check the current timetable with the hotel.
Is TRIBE Manchester Airport quiet?
My stay included disruptive corridor noise in the early hours. I would not promise a quiet experience based on that visit, although other rooms and nights may be different.
Is TRIBE a good hotel before an early flight?
The location makes it a practical option, and I liked the sense of starting the holiday the night before. However, sleep is important, so my noise experience is something to weigh against the hotel’s other strengths.

Plane Honest Final Verdict: I Loved the Vibe, but Sleep Still Matters ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
TRIBE Manchester Airport left me with mixed feelings in the most interesting way.
I loved the modern feel, enjoyed breakfast and appreciated the location. It felt like a hotel where the holiday could begin before the flight.
Would I consider staying again?
Yes, with a dinner reservation, a careful look at the room options and a request for a quieter location.
TRIBE has the holiday energy. On my visit, it needed a little more space for the suitcase and a little less activity outside the bedroom.
