But as I learned on my recent trip, even the most idyllic destinations can come with a dose of excitement and in my case, a bit of chaos!

My trip to Nakupenda Sandbank began with a recommendation from Happy Bike Tours, a fantastic local tour operator in Zanzibar. They suggested this adventure as the perfect way to experience the island’s beauty. Nakupenda is an easy day trip from Stone Town, taking you through the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean with breathtaking views.
However, in true travel adventure fashion, our boat decided to add some drama, it started sinking halfway there! Thankfully, the crew managed the situation, and we made it safely to Nakupenda. It was a “Titanic” moment turned hilarious memory I’ll never forget!
