Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic have launched one of their biggest-ever points promotions, offering up to a 70% bonus when you buy Virgin Points.

If you're planning a Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy redemption, dreaming of Upper Class, or simply need a few extra points to complete your next booking, this could be one of the cheapest opportunities to boost your balance this year.

But should you buy Virgin Points? I've done the maths. (Ok ChatGPT did)

Yes, but only if you already have a redemption in mind.

At around 0.88p per point, this is one of the strongest Virgin Atlantic promotions we've seen. The maths can work particularly well for Premium Economy redemptions, Upper Class upgrades and topping up an existing Flying Club balance.

Best for: Travellers who already know how they'll use the points.

Virgin Red Points Sale: What Is The Offer?

The latest Virgin Points promotion runs until 7 July 2026.

The bonus depends on how many points you buy:

• Buy 5,000 to 39,000 points → 20% bonus

• Buy 40,000 to 79,000 points → 40% bonus

• Buy 80,000 to 124,000 points → 60% bonus

• Buy 125,000 to 200,000 points → 70% bonus

The maximum annual purchase limit is 200,000 points.

With the 70% bonus, that becomes: 200,000 Virgin Points = 340,000 Virgin Points

At the highest bonus level, the cost works out at around 0.88p per point.

That's one of the cheapest prices we've seen for buying Virgin Points directly.

Can You Buy Virgin Red Points?

How Much Is 50,000 Virgin Points Worth?

This is one of the most common questions I get.

The answer varies depending on how you redeem them.

50,000 Virgin Points could potentially be enough for:

• A Premium Economy redemption

• An Upper Class upgrade

• Multiple short-haul partner flights

• Experiences through Virgin Red

I've personally seen values ranging from around £250 to well over £750 depending on the route and availability.

Is Buying Virgin Points Worth It?

My answer is simple:

Only buy points if you already have a plan for them.

I wouldn't recommend buying points speculatively.

However, buying points can make sense if:

✔ You're just short of a redemption

✔ You've already found reward availability

✔ You're booking Premium Economy

✔ You're upgrading to Upper Class

✔ The cash fare is significantly more expensive
