Arlo NoMad Hotel Review: Hotels in New York can be wildly expensive, but every once in a while, you stumble upon one that nails location, comfort, and cool without breaking the bank. Welcome to the Arlo NoMad Hotel, a stylish, smart, and surprisingly affordable stay right in the heart of Manhattan. Think big city energy meets boutique design and a view that’ll make your jaw drop.

I flew into New York in style (and technically for free!) on Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy using points I just covered the taxes and connected home with JetBlue’s transatlantic service. Both flights set the tone for my New York trip: premium feels without the premium price tag.

Where Is the Arlo NoMad Hotel Located in New York?

The Nomad area a short for North of Madison Square Park has quickly become one of New York City’s most sought-after neighbourhoods, bridging the charm of Flatiron with the convenience of Midtown. It’s central, walkable, and buzzing from sunrise to last call.

You’re surrounded by everything that makes New York holidays unforgettable:

  • Empire State Building – 3 minutes on foot

  • Macy’s Herald Square – 5 minutes

  • Madison Square Garden – 10 minutes

  • Bryant Park – 15 minutes

  • Times Square – under 20 minutes’ walk

If you want to explore further, Tribeca, SoHo, and Central Park are just a quick subway hop away. It’s the perfect base for first-timers asking where to stay in New York safe, central, and full of that quintessential New York energy.

Plane Tip: I’m all for luxury for less and in New York, that means skipping individual tickets. The Go City Explorer Pass bundles 100+ attractions into one smart app. Think Empire State views, ferry rides, museums, and even The Edge, for roughly half the usual cost. Big-city fun, small-city prices.

And if you’re the kind of traveller who likes seeing the city from above (and trust me, it’s worth it), you can’t miss a helicopter ride over New York. It’s one of the most unforgettable ways to see the skyline.

About Arlo Hotels: Affordable Luxury in New York City

Arlo Hotels are known for doing small spaces really well. This boutique chain turns micro-rooms into design-forward sanctuaries clever, compact, and packed with personality. Think of it as Moxy’s trendy cousin, with less chaos and more calm.

Each Arlo property blends community spirit with chic interiors, social spaces, rooftop lounges, and a lobby that feels more like a local café than a hotel check-in.

Arlo Nomad Rooms: What to Expect From the Queen City View Room

I stayed in the Queen City View Room, and trust me, the name doesn’t exaggerate. My window framed the Empire State Building like a postcard. The room itself? Compact but perfectly curated.

What I loved:

  • Queen-size bed with soft linens and smart storage

  • Floor-to-ceiling windows (hello skyline!)

  • Rainfall shower with quality toiletries

  • Fast Wi-Fi and Smart TV

  • USB ports and mood lighting for the modern traveller

You’re not paying for space, you’re paying for smart design, skyline views, and that feeling of waking up in the middle of Manhattan magic.

Twin Bunk Rooms give boutique vibes on a budget, sleek bunks, skyline light, and smart design that makes every inch count. Great if you’re travelling with a friend or relative.

Arlo Rooftop (ART NoMad): The Best Skyline Views in Midtown Manhattan

Forget queueing for the Moxy Rooftop NYC the Arlo Rooftop (ART NoMad) easily holds its own. Panoramic skyline, craft cocktails, and the Empire State Building practically within arm’s reach, this rooftop is a must, whether you’re a guest or just chasing sunset views.

It’s where the city hums below you and the lights start to glitter a reminder that there’s nowhere else quite like New York.

Arlo NoMad Service, Staff & Atmosphere

For a hotel that attracts a hip crowd, the service is genuinely warm. Every staff member I met had that rare mix of professionalism and friendliness, offering tips, directions, and local recommendations without a hint of pretense.

It’s boutique hospitality at its best, approachable, personal, and refreshingly human.

Plane Tip: Don’t forget the little comforts.

A few smart gadgets can make any hotel stay feel first-class.

I never unpack without my Nesugar G9 Clothes Steamer it’s a tiny powerhouse (just 0.9 lbs) that heats up fast and gets creases out quicker than the hotel iron that’s usually missing or older than the building. Perfect for looking sharp before dinner in New York.

Add the BEVA UK-to-US Plug Adapter with 1.5 m Extension Cable, which has 3 USB ports (2 A + 1 C) and a built-in retractable USB-C lead a lifesaver when the only socket in your room is behind the bedside table.

And for the tea-drinkers (or instant-noodle-survivors), the TopWit 0.6L Portable Travel Kettle is a quiet, stainless-steel mini-kettle that boils water fast and shuts off automatically. It’s ideal when your hotel room forgets the basics.

These are all Amazon finds, all tested on my own trips, proof that you don’t need a suite upgrade to enjoy a few five-star touches.

How Much Does Arlo NoMad Cost? (And How to Find the Best New York Hotel Deals)

Let’s be honest New York hotels are rarely cheap, but Arlo Nomad offers some of the best value in Midtown Manhattan. Rooms typically range from $200–$350 USD per night, depending on season and availability.

Plane Tip: If you book direct, you can snag a $25 coupon, but I found it’s often even cheaper through Lastminute.com or Booking.com, especially when bundled with a New York flight and hotel deal.
