Flight Review of British Airways Euroflyer
Trading as a seperate entitiy, British Airways Euroflyer is a short haul product from London Gatwick, its separated from their main business to differentiate employee costs and other costs so it enables them as a carrier to compete with Gatwicks other low cost airlines, EasyJet, Wizz Air etc.
The planes look the same, same branded employees and British Airwaysness, but their are some subtle differences and here they are.
What Sets British Airways Euroflyer Apart?
Euroflyer is BA's dedicated low-cost competitor, serving European and other short-haul destinations from Gatwick with a product that aims to provide value for budget-conscious travellers. While maintaining BA’s branding and service standards, Euroflyer distinguishes itself with a few perks not commonly seen on other low-cost airlines.
One standout feature is Euroflyer’s generous baggage policy. Unlike many budget carriers, Euroflyer allows each passenger to bring both a cabin bag and an additional handbag or small personal item. This dual allowance of a cabin bag and a personal item offers significant convenience, allowing travellers more flexibility without incurring additional fees often charged by other budget airlines.
How long do you have to be at Gatwick before flight?
The amount of time you should arrive at Gatwick Airport before your flight depends on several factors, including the airline, destination, and whether you're checking baggage or just carrying hand luggage. General guidelines are:
For Domestic Flights (within the UK):
With Checked Baggage: Arrive at least 2 hours before departure.
With Hand Luggage Only: Arrive at least 90 minutes before departure.
For European Flights:
With Checked Baggage: Arrive at least 2.5 hours before departure.
With Hand Luggage Only: Arrive at least 2 hours before departure.
For Long-Haul (Intercontinental) Flights:
Arrive at least 3 hours before departure.
Additional Considerations:
British Airways check in Guidelines: Opens 24 hours before departure for flights from the UK you can check in via the British Airways website or mobile app and obtain your boarding pass. Advance Seat Selection is available for a fee from the time of booking until check-in opens.
Security Screening: Allow extra time during peak travel periods or if travelling with items that may require additional screening.
Online Check-In: If you've already checked in online and have no bags to drop, you may be able to arrive closer to departure.
Transport to the Airport: Factor in time for unexpected delays on the way to Gatwick.

London Gatwick to Dalaman: Flight Review

My Euroflyer flight from Gatwick to Dalaman began with a 90-minute delay due to air traffic congestion. Though we boarded on time, we ultimately spent over six hours in the cabin. Thankfully, my partner and I had a spare seat between us, which made the wait a bit more bearable.
Seating and Comfort:The seat spacing and legroom are on par with other budget airlines—comfortable enough for a short haul but nothing luxurious.
Top Tip: avoid the last row, which doesn’t recline. If the person in front reclines, it can make an already tight space feel more restrictive.
In-flight Service:During the flight, we were offered a snack bar and a glass of water, which, while appreciated, it didn’t do much to distinguish the experience from other low-cost airlines like Ryanair or EasyJet. Business class passengers at the front benefit from an empty middle seat and a meal, though the price increase might be hard to justify for some.

This isn't BA! It's Avion Express!
On my return flight from Dalaman, instead of boarding a BA aircraft, I found myself on a flight operated by Avion Express, an entirely different airline with a clearly retrofitted Wizz Air aircraft. This was a surprise to passengers expecting a British Airways experience. Additionally, the aircraft was fully booked, and we faced yet another 90-minute delay.
Shocking Ground staff behaviour! During check in at Dalaman airport the ground staff checking us in could not believe my partner and I had the same surname and was laughing! My partner is Turkish and was fully communicating with her, he explained we were married yet she continued to laugh, the same check in girl checked our boarding cards at the gate and again began to laugh! It was very uncomfortable, I like to have a laugh and banter, but this was laughing in our face that two men are married!
I dropped some feedback to BA regarding this, but got a standard generic response. If you ever wonder why we have pride month and spreading awareness and equality then maybe you can understand why as unfortunately some cultures and people are still playing catch up!

Luggage Conveniency: Euroflyer’s baggage allowance, one cabin bag plus an additional handbag or personal item this is a real plus for travellers looking to maximise carry-on capacity without extra fees.

One cabin bag (max dimensions: 56 x 45 x 25 cm, including handles and wheels).
Maximum weight: 23 kg.
This is perfect fit under the cabin bag dimensions: 56 x 45 x 25 cm, I've been using the Cabin Max Anode for over a year and it's the perfect fit for British Airways Euroflyer Short-Haul carry on luggage item.
It is so light weight, it has 360 spinning wheels so I can push or pull it around the airport and place my small undereat bag on top of it. It has a well made lock to keep all my items secure. For the price as well it is excellent quality and comes in so many different colours!
Personal Item:
One additional small personal item (e.g., handbag, laptop bag, or backpack).
Must fit under the seat in front (max dimensions: 40 x 30 x 15 cm).

You can keep everything super organised, I love that it is really padded well so it's very comfortable on your back all day long and this comes in so many different colours.

Standard allowance: One checked bag up to 23 kg.
Larger bags (up to 32 kg) can be added for an additional fee.
British Airways Executive Club members flying with BA Euroflyer, the airline’s Gatwick-based subsidiary, can earn Avios and Tier Points on eligible flights, unlike most low-cost carriers.
Using the British Airways Executive Club login, members can manage their accounts and track rewards. The British Airways Executive Club and Avios Points Calculator helps estimate earnings on specific routes, simplifying reward planning. Members can also redeem Avios for Reward Flights and enjoy benefits like priority boarding and lounge access, enhancing their travel experience.

My next Euroflyer flight to Ibiza presented a very different experience. With the cabin only around 30% full—remarkably low for August, the peak travel season I had ample space and a relaxed atmosphere. However, there was another slot delay, this time a more manageable 45-minute wait.
Cabin Cleanliness: One drawback was the cleanliness of the aircraft, which seemed neglected. Despite BA’s branding, the cabin appeared less than pristine, which took away from the experience.
British Airways Baggage Policy: Once again, the generous baggage allowance stood out as a major perk. Having both a cabin bag and an additional handbag is a benefit that truly distinguishes Euroflyer from many low-cost airlines that charge for extra items beyond a single bag.
Is British Airways Euroflyer Worth It?
British Airways Euroflyer offers a mix of BA brand reliability with a budget-friendly approach. The baggage policy, allowing both a cabin bag and a handbag, is a small difference between the other low cost airlines. While the experience doesn’t offer traditional British Airways extras, I think they are trying to be British Airways utilising their marketing and position whilst also being a low cost airline.
