I recently visited the Plaza Premium Lounge at Terminal 2, London Heathrow. It’s genuinely beautiful inside, impressively styled, and promises an escape from the terminal madness. But let’s be honest, airport lounges aren’t all created equal. So here’s everything you need to know, including the good, the not-so-good, and how you can get 30% off your entry with a Priority Pass.
Where Is the Plaza Premium Lounge in Terminal 2?
The Plaza Premium Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2 is easy to find. It’s located after security in Terminal 2A, near Gate A16. Just follow the lounge signs and take the escalator or lift up to the mezzanine level. It’s right above the main duty-free area.
This is an independent lounge, not tied to any specific airline. That means anyone can enter, regardless of cabin class or airline status. You can either pay at the door or access it through programmes like Priority Pass.

The lounge is open daily from 5:00 AM until 9:30 PM, which covers most international departures.
How Much Does It Cost?
If you turn up without pre-booking, you’ll likely pay around £44 for a three-hour stay. That’s a lot for a bit of food and a seat. But don’t worry, you don’t need to pay full price.

First Impressions – Gorgeous But a little Crowded
Stepping into the lounge, you’re met with stylish decor and a relaxing vibe. The design is polished and modern wood-panel walls, clean lines, and ambient lighting that actually feels calming. It’s a sharp contrast to the high-stress duty-free zone just outside.
But here’s the thing, it’s also very busy.
The space is smaller than some lounges in Terminal 5 or other major airports, and on my visit, it was near capacity. Many of the more desirable seats, think booths or tucked-away corners, were marked “reserved,” which left the rest of us scrambling for a free table.
There are a few different zones: soft armchairs, bar stools, dining-style seating, and some workstations with plug points. It’s enough to cater to different needs, but the sheer number of people dilutes the overall comfort. If you don’t mind sitting elbow-to-elbow with strangers, it still beats the main terminal.
Atmosphere and Seating
The overall vibe is elegant but not pretentious. There’s soft music playing, a muted colour scheme, and just enough separation between zones to give the illusion of privacy, until someone’s suitcase rolls over your foot.
There are no windows and no views of the runway or planes pushing back. If you enjoy plane-spotting while sipping your drink, you’ll be disappointed here.
There’s no dedicated family area, no reclining chairs for napping, and no showers either. This is a lounge for a quick bite and a sit-down rather than an extended pre-flight retreat.
Food – Good choice
I visited around brunch time, and the food was better than expected.
The buffet included:
Scrambled eggs (well seasoned)
Mushrooms, hash browns, and baked beans
Sausages
Pastries, croissants, muffins
Bread and toast station
Cheese and crackers
Basic salad bar with fresh ingredients
A hot soup (lentil when I visited)
Nothing revolutionary here, but it’s a proper meal, not just snacks. And they keep it topped up fairly regularly. Quality-wise, it beats what you’d pay £12 for downstairs in Pret or Wagamama.
I asked for a vegetarian sausage, and the staff told me it would take around 20–25 minutes. Fair enough, but the tone was less than enthusiastic, like I was asking for something wildly inconvenient. Worth noting for any fellow vegetarians.
Drinks Yes, MOST of the Booze is Included
You’ll find tea, coffee, juice, and soft drinks in a self-serve station. The coffee machine makes a decent latte, and the tea options include a couple of herbal choices along with your standard English Breakfast.
The good news: alcohol is included. House red and white wines, basic spirits, and beers are complimentary. Sparkling wine is usually an extra, but during my visit, the bartender poured me a free glass with a wink and no charge YAY! That’s the kind of service I like to see.
Wi-Fi and Power Points
The Wi-Fi is fast and reliable. I uploaded a couple of videos to Instagram without a hitch, and it would be totally fine for emails, browsing, or even streaming.
There are power points dotted around, but they’re in high demand. If you’re lucky enough to nab a seat with a working socket, guard it carefully. USB ports are also available but not everywhere.
Service
Staff were polite and efficient, especially given the crowds. The bartender was cheerful, the check-in process was smooth, and tables were cleared promptly despite how busy it got.
The only letdown was the vegetarian sausage request. It didn’t feel particularly accommodating, which is surprising in 2025. Vegetarian options shouldn’t be a chore.
What’s Missing?
A few things stood out as missing from this Heathrow lounge experience:
No windows or natural light
No showers
No family play area
No sleeping pods or recliners
Vegetarian options could be better
Limited seating during peak times
This is not a flagship lounge, and it doesn’t pretend to be. But if you’ve visited some of the flashier lounges at Terminal 5 or the Emirates Lounge in Dubai, it may feel underwhelming by comparison.
Is It Consistent with Other Plaza Premium Lounges?
In short, yes. It’s very much in line with the brand’s other UK and international locations. Clean, stylish, fairly compact, and functional.
If you’ve been to the Plaza Premium Lounge in Edinburgh or Dubai, you’ll find a familiar setup. It’s a touch of luxury and it’s 1000% significantly better than sitting at the gate.
Who Is This Lounge Best For?
Solo travellers who want a quiet(ish) place to eat or scroll
Couples or friends flying economy who want a treat
Anyone with a Priority Pass looking to make use of a long layover
Travellers who want food, a drink, and a seat, nothing overly fancy

Final Verdict – Is It Worth Paying for Access?
The Plaza Premium Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2 is stylish, functional, and offers a welcome break from the terminal crowds. It’s not perfect and during busy times, it feels more “premium pub” than peaceful retreat, but it still beats queuing at Pret with a soggy £8 sandwich.
If you can access it with a discounted Priority Pass, I’d say yes, it’s worth it. But I wouldn’t personally pay the full £44 walk-up rate unless I was facing a major delay.
Best enjoyed during off-peak hours, with a drink in hand and realistic expectations.
