A bit about the new Long Haul Low Cost airline Norse Atlantic Airways
Flights from Boston to London from only $159
Norse Atlantic Airways commenced operat ions in 2021 using 6 of the former long haul widebody 787 aircraft of Norwegian airlines.

Prior to the covid 19 pandemic Norwegian airlines operated over 10 787 aircraft from various european cities to predominantly transatlantic routes offering low cost long haul flights such as London to Miami, London to New York, Paris to LA .
Los Angles to London from $199
Due to the pandemic Norwegian Airlines grounded all of its long haul fleet in March 2020 and then in January 2021 announced that it would be terminating all long haul operations.
One month later in February 2021 Norse Atlantic Airways was founded, securing former long haul 787 aircraft leases from Norwegian Airlines and it had its AOC granted in December 2021 ready for the airline to launch in spring 2022. So thats how Norse Atlantic Airways emerged from the former airline Norwegian Airlines.

Flight Review of Norse Atlantic Airways Economy

I booked a cheap flight from London to Oslo to try out the new emerging low cost long haul airline Norse Atlantic Airways. My expectations were pretty low to be fair!

Check in
Not a great start really, I was emailed multiple times by Norse Airlines to check in online before the flight, but I couldn't seem to do it on their app. I thought well perhaps I've been selected for additional screening so that may explain it?
However on arrival at Zone D at Gatwick South I could see a huge queue of passengers checking in, I joined the queue and it felt like I was back in 1995 again. To be fair the queue looked worse than it was, it was actually only for around 10 minutes! The Check in lady explained Norse currently don't have online check in and they are working on it.
This was really confusing due to the emails prompting me to check in online and also the signs around Norse check in desks encouraging you to check in yourself.
I hope they manage to set this up in time for the 6 additional flights taking off from London and several at JFK otherwise this = huge queues at Norse check in areas this summer!

Fast Track Security at London Gatwick
Gatwick Airport you have the option to pay extra to go through a different security lane, the current charge is £5, this might be worth it if flying out of Gatwick at peak times (school holidays, weekend early morning.)
Baggage allowance
The check in staff were extremely thorough with checking bags weight and sizes, they used a baggage gauge to check every bag, this is a low cost airline and they are there to make money from every income stream they can, so make sure you are complying with their luggage policy for your ticket type.

The seat
With a 3-3-3 configuration I was sat in 22H and it was actually quite ok, I'm 6ft 1"(186cm for americans) and it felt like it would be ok for a long haul flight. The seat is 31-32" of legroom pitch.

Norse Atlantic Airways use newish (this one was delivered to Norwegian Airlines in 2018) 787 aircraft, each seat has its own inflight screen and a USB port, I didn't see any sockets on this particular 787 but I do believe Norse have them on some of their aircraft.
Inflight Entertainment
The range of inflight entertainment seemed pretty good and definatly lots of choice and some really great classic movies and lots of differernt TV series to choose from so I was really impressed by the choice of entertainment! They don't seem to have a moving map, its just like an information screen.
Onboard Food and drinks
A pretty normal selection of meals and drinks to purchase onboard I was very tempted to purchase the thai green chicken curry! Not a great deal of choice for vegeterians or those that have dietry allergies or requirements so bare that in mind and stock up on some inflight snacks!

You can pre book meals before the flight, they are around £25! and £17 for a second lighter meal.

No wifi onboard either, they are missing a trick here a cash generator! (I heard on galley FM that wifi is coming at some point this year)
I have to say the cabin crew seemed very professional in their lovely bluey uniforms.
