Welcome Aboard the Lounge Life

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from years of airport hopping, it’s this a great airport lounge can make or break your travel day.

I’ve lost count of how many lounges I’ve sipped prosecco in, but I have learned which ones are worth arriving early for (and which deserve to be left behind with your middle seat boarding pass).

With the Christmas Market season about to take off and travellers heading to Vienna, Rome, Zurich, and Amsterdam, here’s my definitive list of the Top 10 Best Airport Lounges in Europe. Whether you’re a frequent flyer, AvGeek, or just love a good prosecco before take-off, these are Europe’s best airport lounges for 2025 Most of them tested, tasted, and rated by yours truly.

10. KLM Crown Lounge, Amsterdam Schiphol

Spanning two floors with a gin bar, nap zones, and even showers, the KLM Crown Lounge is basically an airport city in itself.

It can get busy, sure, but it’s still one of the most impressive airline lounges in Europe and a must-see for loyal KLM flyers or anyone passing through Schiphol.

If you’re heading into town afterwards, don’t miss my guides on how to get from Schiphol Airport to the city centre and how to spend 24 hours in Amsterdam perfect for making the most of a long layover or quick city break.

Plane Tip: The upstairs terrace near the gin bar offers the best runway views and if you time it right, you might just spot a retro KLM livery taxiing past.

9. Vienna Skylounge, Vienna International Airport

The Skylounge Vienna is sleek, quiet, and quintessentially Austrian, polished service, strong coffee, and a buffet that’ll keep you full until landing.

Whether you’re returning from Vienna’s magical Christmas markets or connecting to London, it’s the perfect place to unwind,

Plane Tip: I filmed a quick walkthrough of this lounge on TikTok, watch it on my TikTok @mrplaneguy and hit follow for more behind-the-scenes airport lounge tours and AvGeek adventures.

8. Rome Plaza Premium Airport Lounge Fiumicino Airport

Rome FCO may test your patience, but Plaza Premium Airport Lounge  restores it instantly.

Think proper espresso, Italian wines, and a pasta bar that puts most inflight meals to shame. If you’re heading home from the Rome Christmas Market at Piazza Navona, this is your last chance for a taste of Italy literally.

A smaller airport, a big surprise. The Martello Lounge at Dublin Airport proves that great design and warm Irish hospitality can rival Europe’s biggest hubs. Expect calm vibes, proper coffee, local charm, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes waiting for your flight feel like part of the trip.

You even get panpipe versions of Irish classics, yes, Westlife included. What more could you want before your boarding call? ☘️

It’s a brilliant choice whether you’re flying to Rome, London, or New York — or connecting to festive favourites like Vienna or Brussels.

Plane Tip: I often make Dublin my connection airport purely because of this lounge. You can grab a cheap Ryanair hop over, then connect onto long-haul redemptions for far fewer Avios. I once bagged a Qatar Airways Business Class flight to Doha for just 40,000 Avios, compared to a much higher cost from London — plus, UK departure taxes were way more expensive. Read my full Qatar Airways 787 Business Class review here.

Stylish, comfortable, and perfectly located, the Oneworld Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol is one of Europe’s true hidden gems.

I’ve spent more than a few pre-flight hours here, excellent service, panoramic apron views, and space to unwind before your next hop. It’s proof you don’t need a first-class ticket for a first-class experience.

Plane Tip: If you’re flying British Airways, Qatar Airways, or Finnair, this is the spot to start your journey in style. Bonus points if you time your visit for golden hour, the runway views are unbeatable.

5. Lufthansa Senator Lounge, Frankfurt

If efficiency were a lounge, it would look like this. The Lufthansa Senator Lounge at Frankfurt Airport is everything you expect from Germany: punctual, practical, and surprisingly indulgent.

There’s a full bar, a proper hot food spread, and the legendary currywurst station, a firm favourite for frequent flyers and flight geeks alike.

4. SWISS Senator Lounge, Zurich

The SWISS Senator Lounge in Zurich is so immaculate it could double as a luxury design showroom.

Expect precision service, gourmet buffets, barista-made coffee, and a panoramic terrace with views of the Alps. It’s the perfect pre-flight calm before heading to the Zurich Christmas Markets or any Alpine escape.

🥉 3. Air France Lounge Paris Charles de Gaulle

Chic, modern, and unapologetically French. The Air France Lounge at CDG Terminal 2E is basically a Parisian café in the sky.

Sip an espresso, sample some brie, or sneak in a Clarins spa treatment before your connection to Prague, Vienna, or anywhere festive. Effortlessly elegant, just like the airline itself.

🥈 2. British Airways Concorde Room, Heathrow Terminal 5

If the Virgin Clubhouse is cool and creative, the Concorde Room is calm and collected. Reserved for First Class and Gold Guest List flyers, it’s all plush seating, fine dining, and crystal-glass champagne moments.

With private cabanas, waiter-service dining, and timeless design, it’s still one of Europe’s most exclusive airport lounges and proof that BA’s “Better BA” transformation is taking flight.

🥇 1. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, Heathrow Terminal 3, London

Let’s be honest, nothing comes close to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Heathrow Terminal 3.

It’s effortlessly stylish, brilliantly British, and perfectly cheeky, the only place where you can have your hair trimmed, your martini shaken, and your pre-flight nerves soothed all at once.

Whether you’re flying Upper Class or redeeming Virgin Points for Premium Economy, this is where the holiday starts.

Honourable Mentions (and the Ones to Skip)

Milan Malpensa Lounge – Sleek design, great coffee, and good snacks. Not quite top ten, but worth a visit if your jetting off from Milan Malpensa, you can read all about my last visit here.

Clubrooms Heathrow Terminal 3 I wanted to love it… but didn’t. The service was slow and clearly too much for too little staff and despite being more it couldn’t compete with No 1 Lounge next door

Berlin Tegel “Tiger” Lounge – cramped seating, and no tiger could save it. Thankfully, it’s history now.

Gdańsk Executive Lounge – Friendly staff, but the atmosphere was more waiting room than wow-factor. I’ll skip it next time and head straight for the Gdańsk Christmas Markets and those pierogi stalls instead.

Access via Priority Pass – Easy Entry Every Time

I used my Priority Pass for instant entry while others outside scrambled with card-linked apps and walk-ups.

Priority Pass opens the door to over 1,700 airport lounges and travel experiences across 725 airports in 145 countries and the No 1 Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3 is one of the best examples.

Here’s me, Mr Plane Guy, enjoying prosecco at No 1 Lounge Heathrow T3 before my flight calm, classy, and consistent. Just like myself (LOL).

Why Priority Pass Is Worth It (Updated 2025)

Even after hundreds of lounge visits, Priority Pass remains my go-to. It’s excellent value when used right — and with the 30% off deal, it’s a no-brainer.

With one membership, you can access lounges like Clubrooms, No 1 Lounge, and Plaza Premium at Heathrow, no business-class ticket required.

Here’s why it’s worth it:

  • Global Network: Access over 1,700 airport lounges in 145 countries.

  • Premium Credit Cards: Cards like Amex Platinum and HSBC Premier include free Priority Pass membership.

  • Free Guest Passes: Bring a partner or friend for free on select plans.

  • Member Discounts: Save on dining, spas, and airport retail.

  • Flexible Plans: Choose from Standard, Standard Plus, or Prestige tiers.

  • Digital Access: Use the app for instant lounge entry, no plastic needed.

Even if you only travel four or five times a year, the cost per visit quickly becomes worth it especially at airports like Heathrow, where a coffee and sandwich can easily hit £20.

Priority Pass is the world’s largest independent airport lounge programme, starting from just £69 a year.

The lovely people at Priority Pass have given me a 30% off code, making it just £48, but be quick, it won’t last long!

Final Boarding Call

Whether you’re jetting off to Vienna, Rome, or Zurich for Europe’s festive markets, or returning home through Heathrow or Schiphol, the right airport lounge transforms the travel experience.

A glass of prosecco before boarding, a quiet corner to recharge, or simply escaping the terminal chaos, that’s real travel luxury.

So next time you fly, skip the queues and step into calm. Because let’s face it: life’s too short to drink bad airport coffee when there’s champagne waiting inside.
